CPR & AED Training (1 day)

Our one day Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) Level 2 award training course provides learners with skills to further their First Aid training. It is recommended as training for first aiders in the workplace environment who have access to a defibrillator. Learners gaining this qualification will know that Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) form an essential part of the chain of survival.

The topics covered are regarded by Skills for Health as being important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation.

All successful students will be issued with a CPR & AED Certificate. This qualification has no expiry. However we advise refresher training at intervals of 3 years.

Who should attend a CPR & AED training course?

Having qualified first aiders in the workplace is a requirement of employers and a good practise that can result in life saving actions. The topics covered on our one day day CPR & AED course are regarded as important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective use of CPR and AED in maintaining the chain of survival.

Learning Outcomes for First Aid at Work Training

By the end of the training session the course delegates will be able to:

  • Describe the principles that underpin basic life support.
  • Explain the circumstances under which resuscitation is performed.
  • Explain why early intervention is necessary.
  • Describe different types of cardiopulmonary arrest.
  • Demonstrate the use of an automated external defibrillator.
  • Demonstrate cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Demonstrate compression only resuscitation.
  • Demonstrate the use of resuscitation barrier devices.
  • Demonstrate how to manage a choking casualty.
  • Demonstrate the use of an automated external defibrillator.
  • Describe the differences when using an automated external defibrillator on a child.
  • Demonstrate how to place a casualty in the recovery position.
  • Identify the risks when placing a casualty in the recovery position.
  • Describe handover and reporting procedures.
  • Identify when a defibrillator battery requires changing.
  • Identify when electrode pads need replacing.
  • Demonstrate how to troubleshoot problems if the automated external defibrillator does not function correctly.
  • Describe the safety considerations when using AED’s.
